Deal with CBS Finally Pays Off for SIRIUS: Uncensored Classic Stern Marathon to Air this Weekend

When Howard Stern announced that he would be going to SIRIUS satellite radio, fan rejoiced at the thought of listening to the shockjock completely uncensored. Many also hoped that the lack of censorship would carry over to the “Best of” shows that are typically run when Stern is sick or on vacation. Unfortunately, CBS broadcasting held out on granting SIRIUS the rights to tapes of older shows, which span back 20-some-odd years.

In a recent court case, however, SIRIUS settled with CBS for $2 million and will thus be airing an uncensored, Best of Stern marathon that will play all labor day weekend (starting this Friday and running until midnight Monday). After hours and hours of work by Stern staffers, the ‘bleeps’ have been removed from the tapes, which will feature such classic Stern characters as Hank the Angry Dwarf and the Underdog Lady.

Thanks to SIRIUS Backstage.
