XM Looks to Voluntarily Shut Up FCC, NAB
In an attempt to preempt any crazy NAB-motivated FCC restrictions (like the NAB’s demand for a recall) XM is apparently offering emissions “restricters” for FREE. A report from Orbitcast indicates that these little clip-like devices are being offered at Wal-Marts around the country.
I haven’t heard anything about how much this is costing XM but I’m sure it will be less than a full recall. The fact that they would even do this suggests that the NAB’s letter to the FCC didn’t fall on deaf ears.
