Wherifone to be Sold at Toys R Us

Wherify Wireless Inc. has just announced an October 1st release date for its Wherifone Service, the primary in-store retailer of which will be Toys R Us. The phones will retail for roughly $100 and require independent service that costs roughly $20 a month. Much like Verizon’s Chaperone service, Wherify offers parents the ability to locate their children through GPS and contact them in cases of emergency. And like the Verizon Migo phone, the Wherifone will offer the ability to dial only a few pre-set numbers and will be designed with only safety and emergency uses in mind.

The apparent advantage of Wherify service, however, is that it does not require subscribers to sign up for family plans, nor change their pre-existent cellular service.
