SIRIUS to Use Stern for Holiday Marketing Campaign

The Billboard Radio Monitor reports that SIRIUS is planning to take full advantage of who CEO Mel Karmazin calls “the best salesman on radio” for the ever-important late season makerting push. Apparently, this is the first time that they will be able to do so, since Stern is finally officially under contract.

I am EXTREMELY interested in seeing how this will work out, what media SIRIUS will use, etc. For all his fame, it seems odd to think that Stern has never really been asked to do something like this. He read the ad spots for his terrestrial radio show, but he’s never been in a TV commercial or in any printed ads (to my knowledge). Towards the end of his old show, disputes with his former employer prevented him from even talking about SIRIUS on the air. And his presence alone was still (arguably) single-handedly responsible for putting SIRIUS on the the map.
