New XM Transmitters Get Up Close and Personal with your Antenna
Recent news regarding the FCC’s approval of several XM receivers has led many to speculate on how these new receivers would solve the emissions problem. The first solution that comes to mind is that the new devices will simply emit weaker signals. This possibility is, of course, very troubling for satellite radio subscribers. Fortunately, this is ultimately not how XM made their licensed receivers FCC compliant.
According to a report from Orbitcast, XM solved the problem by moving the source of the receiver’s emitted signal closer to the antenna of the car, thereby making installation a bit trickier but interference less likely.
