Fishy Patent App for Tiered Satellite Radio Service
A post from Satellite Radio Techworld has just brought to my attention a random application for tiered satellite radio service. Tiered service would offer subscribers the ability to, e.g., pay less but get access to fewer channels or have to listen to more commericials. The response to the post, however, makes me suspicious of the now published app, as both SIRIUS and XM have already discussed tiered service–thereby suggesting that the applicant is looking to weasel his way into a winnable patent lawsuit.
