SIRIUS-Mitsubishi Deal Just Announced

In an attempt to boost subscription numbers, SIRIUS and XM have been in a desperate battle for the hearts of car-manufacturers. Both satellite radio providers see the inclusion of their receivers as standard features or factory options on new cars as a extremely important to growth. This makes a lot of sense, of course, as the word is already out, so to speak, about satellite radio, thereby making its establishment in the American psyche as the radio-listening norm the next step in the growth of either provider. After all, if its already in the car, why wouldn’t you agree to fork over a few bucks a month to give it a try (especially since many of these car purchases include a few free months)?

SIRIUS’ deal with Mitsubishi makes satellite radio receivers a standard feature or factory option in four of its 2007 models and in all of its 2008 models. This deal adds Mitsubishi to a list of car manufacturers that have contracts with SIRIUS which includes Ford, Chrysler, BMW, Kia, BMW, and Volkswagen. As of now, XM has GM, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, and Nissan.
