Know Your Satellite Radio Receiver Pt. 5: XM Polk XRt12

Welcome to the next installment of our “Know Your Satellite Radio Receiver” series. We’ve reviewed Sirius’ stand out home receiver, now here’s XM’s: The Polk XRt12 XM Home Receiver.

The buzzword here is sound quality, which is outstanding in this unit. According to CNET, this unit set a new standard for satellite radio quality. With proper speaker equipment, you can achieve near-cd-quality sound.

Besides sounding great, it looks great. Its sleek, stylish design will fit right in among your home audio equipment. It also has a video line out that displays the current track information on your TV. Not enough? You can also “flip” through the XM stations to see what’s on while still listening to your current track. (Of course, it comes with a remote control)

Another useful feature is the memory button. When a song you like comes up, you can save its info for future reference (up to 10 songs at a time).

You can find the XRt12 for around $220 online, making it competitive with similar units.
