130 happy residents of DISH, TX enjoy their free satellite TV
DISH, TX (formerly known as “Clark”) is happy for the change. The town’s 130 citizens will now enjoy free satellite installation, free DVR and the 60-channal package from Dish Network, all because the town changed it’s name. Basically the only person that doesn’t have reason to smile is L.E. Clark, the former mayor from whence “Clark” got it’s namesake.
I think it’s a pretty name,” said Hazel Pennington, 74, next- door neighbor of L.E. Clark, the former mayor for whom the town was named five years ago. “Now I can get Dish for nothing. Clark left a bitter taste in people’s mouths.”
Clark, who opposed the name change, said he spent $6,000 to incorporate the 1-square-mile town near Fort Worth. Pennington and other residents voted for Merritt this year, ousting Clark. Merritt supported changing the town’s name to Dish.
Hmm.. Maybe my town should change its name to 5G iPod with Video Capability…
