Sirius captures 56% of the market share in unit sales September

The press releases are coming fast and furious! According to a Sirius release, the company was #1 in the satellite radio unit sales last month.

NEW YORK, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — SIRIUS Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: SIRI - News) today announced that it captured 56% of satellite radio sales at retail in September, the highest monthly share to date for the satellite radio broadcaster, according to figures released by The NPD Group*.

Congratulations to the fine folks at Sirius for evening the playing field with XM a little. No word yet on how many of the 56% are yet-to-be-activated car radio units sitting on dealer lots.
