Stern Channel launches on Sirius

Sirius launched its long awaited Howard Stern channel today at 5am EST. Eager Stern fans (and I know they’re out there now) who flipped the Sirius dial to channel 100 were greeted with a scrolling message, “We’re building toward Howard Stern’s arrival in January,” and total silence. You know how in horror movies, there’s a noise or a knock on the door, and then the heroine jumps up and throws the door open and theres… nothing? Well, it’s kind of like that.

However, Stern has not been silent on his daily radio show. According to FMQB:

“Things will start happening when they are ready,” explained Stern on his radio show this morning. By mid-show, Stern was lining up a troop of farters to provide the first sounds heard on his Sirius channels and the scroll changed to “Farters coming soon.” The explosive sounds could come as early as tomorrow morning.

“This has got to be the shining beacon of the radio industry,” Stern said earlier this week while discussing his new channels. “I will settle for nothing but the best. My plans and my thoughts for this are off the charts.”

Note: I can only imagine that the farters will be something like what’s in that link, although it is about seven years old.

Stern’s syndicated shows may begin airing on Sirius 100 as early as tomorrow.

Oh, and for those of you who can’t get enough of the King of All Media, Howard’s special In Demand service, which promises to be even raunchier than what has been shown on E!, will be launching soon. And no, it won’t be killing Sirius.
