In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, Satellite Radio companies broadcast benefit concert
America’s two leading satellite broadcasters, XM and Sirius both plan to broadcast benefit concerts tonight at 8pm EST. The concert, organized by NBC Universal will feature performances by Faith Hill, Aaron Neville, Tim McGraw, Harry Connick, Jr., Wynton Marsalis, and appearances from stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Mike Myers, Hilary Swank, Lindsay Lohan, Claire Danes, John Goodman, Eriq LaSalle and Eli Manning.
Both broadcasters urge listeners to donate to hurricane relief efforts by calling 1-800-HELP-NOW. Phone lines will, of course, be open during the concert, but SateLink also wishes to remind its audience that phone lines for hurricane relief are open 24 hours a day, both at “Help Now” and the Salvation Army, and that the Red Cross always accepts donations.
The concert is available on XM Channel 130 and Sirius Channel 101 for one hour starting at 8pm EST, as well as on NBC and MSNBC. The concert will be re-broadcasted at 8pm Pacific time for viewers on the west coast.
