Satellite’s Edge on Cable

According to recent figures, a total of 27 percent of all homes are satellite subscribers - a remarkable increase from 19 percent just a year ago and 12 percent five years ago. Meanwhile, cable subscribers fell from 66 percent in 2000 to 62 percent last year down to 60 percent this year. Analysts attribute the growth to rural customers who are signing up for pay TV for the first time, but don’t have access to cable. Additionally, satellite subscription costs average at $57.72 per month, while cable subscribers pay about $58.51.

But luckily for cable, customer satisfaction went up from 639 to 643 out of 1,000, an improvement but still less than satellite’s 712, down from 723.
