XM to Offer Music Downloads Through Napster

Anyone who’s ever heard a great new song on XM and completely forgot what it was later can rejoice: XM and Napster have teamed up to launch a service where XM subscribers can easily download songs they like from the online music service. “XM + Napster” works with XM-compatible MP3 players to allow users to bookmark songs heard on XM, then plug his or her MP3 player into a PC where Napster will find your songs in its database and download them. Users of XM’s MyFi portable satellite radio can mark songs for purchase online through the existing XM Radio Online.

The news comes a short while after Sirius made an attempt to strike a deal with Apple to put the service on the iPod, but Steve Jobs wasn’t interested.
