23% of Stern Listeners Will Follow Him to Sirius
Great news for Sirius - 23 percent of Howard Stern’s listeners will be following the shock jock when he ditches terrestrial radio for Sirius in 2006. Meanwhile, 5 percent of Stern’s listeners say they’ll stick with whatever replaces him on their current Stern station, and 41 percent say they listen to that particular station only to hear Howard and will find something else to listen to once the switch comes. Additionally, 31 percent remain undecided about whether or not they will subscribe to Sirius for Stern’s show, out of which 12 percent said they would be “very likely” to subscribe if there were no commercials.
With Stern pulling anywhere from five to nine to twelve million listeners every week (the number changes depending on who you ask), Sirius could see somewhere between one and three million new subscribers once Stern joins the team, a much-needed boost for the #2 satellite radio provider.
