New Satellite Internet Provider for Canada

Ottawa-based satellite operator Telesat has launched satellite internet service in Canada, offering two-way, always-on, high-speed Internet for rural areas or areas where high-speed Internet is otherwise unavailable. Using Telesat’s Anik F2 satellite, the service offers multiple plans, with the fastest having speeds up to 2Mbps/download and 0.5Mbps/upload. The service is expected to be available nationally in the next few weeks.

Is this service available for individuals or just the business?

I may have to move to a very rural area this fall, to take care of my mother. I am an independent contractor transcriptionist. I do online transcriptions from my home. I am concerned that I will have to stop working if I go to my mother’s because I need a high-speed internet connection which is presently not available in her area (St. Anicet, Quebec).

I would be greatly interested in subscribing to this service, if it is available for individuals who work at home.

Thank you for any information you can provide.
